Hand Stitching

Keruk Jeans are completely hand stitched. I use linen thread for the main stitching, and cotton thread for the pocket bags and overcasting the edges. Techniques are many: saddle stitching, Norwegian stitching, blanket stitching, but, most of all, back stitching. Even when well executed, back stitching creates nice stitches only on the right side. On the back, the stitches are inevitably uneven and, on thick fabric like denim, too long. To obviate this problem, on the wrong side, the thread is inserted into the same thread of the previous stitch, in every single stitch. It is a time consuming process, that requires a lot of patience and precision, but eventually it creates a nice and clean line of stitches on both sides.

Keruk Jeans は全て手縫い。メインステッチには麻糸、ポケットバック、かがり縫いには綿糸を使用。サドルステッチ、ノルベジェーゼステッチ、ブランケットステッチ、そしてさらにバックステッチと、用いるテクニックは多岐にわたる。通常バックステッチの美しさが引き立つのは表面だけであり、加えてデニムのように厚い生地の場合、バックステッチは裏面に（計算外の）長い線を残してしまう。しかし、私はどちらの面にも美しい仕上げを求め、全てのステッチにおいて、裏面で直前の縫い目に糸を通して針を進めるという処理を施している。この工程には忍耐強さと精巧さ、そして時間が必要とされるが、それにより、生地の両面にクリーンな素晴らしいステッチラインが作り上げられる。
